HBO Max has released the first full trailer for the miniseries "Wśród nocnej ciszy", a new production by Jan Holoubek, the director known for "Wielka woda". According to the Polish site Filmweb, it is one of the most anticipated series premieres of November.
Premiere and plot
The miniseries has six episodes. It will debut on HBO Max on 13 November, with new episodes released weekly.
The story begins on Christmas Day 1976. Three young people – a pregnant woman, her husband and her younger brother – are killed by a bus on their way home from midnight Mass. No one is willing to talk about what happened, and the case is ruled an accident. The victims' mother and a young investigator, Maczek, do not believe it and search for the truth on their own.
The series is inspired by real events described in Wiesław Łuka's reportage "Nie oświadczam się".
Cast
The cast includes Łukasz Simlat, Jędrzej Hycnar, Magdalena Biegańska, Tomasz Schuchardt, Nel Kaczmarek and Tomasz Włosok.
About the director
Jan Holoubek has earned recognition for films and series based on true stories. His credits include "25 lat niewinności. Sprawa Tomka Komendy", "Wielka woda" and "Heweliusz", as well as "Rojst" and "Doppelgänger. Sobowtór". His latest film, "Dziki, dziki wschód", premiered at this year's Toronto festival, was shown at the festival in Gdynia and will reach cinemas in January.
What it means for Poles in the UK
The source does not say whether or when the series will be available on HBO Max in the UK, or with what subtitles. It is worth checking the service before the premiere.
