Google Cloud outage in London disrupts Revolut and other services on 20 October 2026

Revolut customers had problems with the app, logging in and payments on 20 October 2026. The cause was an outage in Google Cloud services in London, not a fault at Revolut itself.

What happened

According to Bankier.pl, citing AFP and Reuters, the cause was a power problem at a Google Cloud data centre in London. Google pointed to the europe-west2-b zone. The disruption began at 6:08 GMT (8:08 Polish time).

Spider's Web reports that Revolut's problems began at around 8:00 Polish time and had not eased after more than four hours. Revolut's backend relies on Google's technology, so the site says payment authorisation and logging in, among other things, stopped working.

How the outage showed up

Symptoms varied. Some users could log in, but parts of the app, such as transaction history, would not load. Others saw a white screen with the logo, or an error message when trying to do anything. Users also reported that Revolut cards were not working for in-store payments. Revolut confirmed disruption to card payments and ATM withdrawals.

At around 10:00 Polish time, Downdetector recorded more than 2,500 reports. The number later fell to around 1,000 and was about 1,200 when Spider's Web published its article.

Revolut's statement

Revolut said it had been working on a fix since it detected the problem. According to a spokesperson quoted by AFP, the money and data of all customers are safe.

Other services affected

The outage was not limited to Revolut. Bankier.pl also mentions Lloyds bank. Spider's Web says the German arm of ING reported login problems. According to rp.pl, the courier firm DPD also had trouble, and remote court hearings in the UK were affected.

Google said the power failure had been fixed. Infrastructure services are being restored gradually, and the rest will follow at a later stage.

What this means for Poles in the UK

People who use Revolut, or Lloyds, may have had trouble accessing their accounts, paying by card and withdrawing cash from ATMs. The sources do not say exactly when services will return to normal. As a precaution, it is worth having a second way to pay, such as a card from another bank, or cash. Revolut's official channels carry the latest updates.
