Zalewski scores and assists as Atalanta draw 2-2 with Fiorentina in Serie A

Poland international Nicola Zalewski was Atalanta BC's standout player in their 2-2 Serie A draw with ACF Fiorentina. The match was played in Florence on 29 October 2026, closing the round of fixtures.

Assist and goal

Atalanta coach Maurizio Sarri picked Zalewski in the starting line-up. The Pole played alongside players including Eljif Elmas, Charles De Ketelaere and Nikola Krstovic.

In the 41st minute Zalewski pulled the ball back to De Ketelaere after cutting into the box and playing it between two opponents. The Belgian shot from the centre of the box to beat David de Gea and put Atalanta 1-0 up. It was Zalewski's third assist of this Serie A season. According to the source, that is the best in the team.

Fiorentina turn it around

The second half was delayed by a change of referee. The likely cause was an injury to Federico La Penna, who was replaced by Livio Marinelli. In the 53rd minute Alieu Njie headed in an equaliser from an Alex Jimenez cross. Joao Mario then made it 2-1 after a pass from Njie. By the 61st minute the hosts had turned the score around.

Zalewski rescues a point

In the 74th minute Zalewski levelled at 2-2. De Ketelaere repaid the earlier assist, and the Pole placed his shot perfectly by the post. De Gea, screened by a crowd of defenders, had no chance to react.

Zalewski was substituted in the 84th minute, replaced by Kamaldeen Sulemana. Fiorentina still had a chance to retake the lead, but Marco Brescianini shot wide from close range and, according to the source, failed to surprise Marco Carnesecchi.

The Sportowe Fakty report argues that without Zalewski, Atalanta's setback would have been bigger. Fiorentina are fighting against relegation for the second season in a row.
