Gotham Awards 2026: nominations for Pawlikowski's "Fatherland" and Marczak's "Bez końca"

Polish cinema is well represented among the nominees for the 2026 Gotham Awards, which honour independent film in the United States. Nominations went to Paweł Pawlikowski's "Fatherland" (in Polish, "Ojczyzna") and Michał Marczak's documentary "Bez końca".

Two nominations for "Fatherland"

Pawlikowski's film is in the running for best international feature. Sandra Hueller, who plays one of the main roles in the film, was also nominated for best supporting performance.

"Fatherland" tells the story of the writer Thomas Mann and his daughter. It competed for the main prize at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. According to the Polish daily "Rzeczpospolita", Pawlikowski won the award for best director there.

"Bez końca" among the documentaries

Michał Marczak is nominated in the category of best feature-length documentary for "Bez końca", which attracted wide attention in Poland. Another nominee in that category is "Lis i różowy księżyc", directed by Soraya Akhlaghi and Mehrdad Oskouei.

When the results come

Organisers will announce the winners in late November 2026. The sources we used do not give the exact date of the ceremony. The Gotham Awards usually open the film awards season, but nominations do not settle how the films will fare later.
